Ryan Raghoo Visit

Today we had a very special visit from a GB athlete called Ryan Raghoo who came into our school to send us a very inspirational message.
He told us about his amazing journey to get where he is today. Ryan told us he was born with brain damage and couldn’t walk for a few years due to his cerebral palsy. He had to miss school for four years because of his condition and struggled to catch up with work. Ryan also told us about how he felt when sports day came and how he was still trying to finish his race while the others were collecting their medals.

After the assembly he came into some classes to talk to us in smaller groups. We asked Ryan some questions about why and how he became a world record holder and his career (the long jump). Afterwards, he came to ask the sports crew some questions about his visit and how we thought it helped us . To end his visit he and the sports crew took a picture. We really enjoyed meeting him.

Thank you for Ryan’s visit. Harry has been completely inspired by today’s assembly and Ryan coming into school. We have been told loads of facts about Ryan’s life and athletic career and look him up online.

That’s wonderful to hear! He really was fantastic and the children were enthralled listening to him speak about his life.
