Year 1

Welcome to Year 1

Year 1 is an exciting place to learn all about the north and south pole, Victorian nurses and the amazing Brazilian rainforest. It’s THE best place to learn about poetry, emergencies and our amazing planet.

We aim to make the transition from Reception to Year 1 as smooth as possible. We build on the skills learnt in Reception and develop them further to a more structured way of learning. We do this by building on the basics of reading, writing and number work.

Much of our topic work is done through practical, investigative learning so that the children explore their own environment and learn about the world around them. There will be many exciting events happening during the year including dressing up days, visitors and trips out of the classroom.

Mr Bowden, Mrs Mutch, Mrs Rymer, Mrs Bury and Miss Newman are there to ensure that learning is fun and the children make the best progress they can throughout the year.
